About Us

In 2014, Nan and Barry Jemison moved to Lucedale, Mississippi in order to plant Journey Community Church. Buttons and Bows was born out of Nan's desire to meet people and engage those in the community.  Her daughters began to suggest the idea of opening a store to her, as there were no children's boutiques in the area.

As Nan likes to say, "Your children will grow up and teach you." Two of her daughters owned stores on the historic Main Street in Lucedale, and running a shop next to her daughters while simultaneously clothing her grandkids seemed too good to be true. She credits her store and its success to her daughters' encouragement. After weeks of preparation and renovation, she opened Buttons and Bows in December of 2015.
 In April 2019, Buttons and Bows moved across the street into a larger location.  

Nan has been married to her high school sweet heart for 38 years. They met at the age of twelve and fourteen when Barry's dad became the pastor of the church where Nan attended. The rest is history. They have 3 girls and 5 grandkids, who are their favorite hobby. Nan loves all of her precious customers and being able to be a part of the Lucedale community.
